My “It List”

I was checking out the Vanity Fair website this weekend, and I came across one of their new features – The It List, in the Vanity Fair Insider section.

It’s a nifty little section to play around with. I found some things that look rather interesting, and some things that I can definitely do without.

Here’s my It List so far.

  1. Jantzen Vamp Maillot. I’ve always loved the one-piece bathing suits from the old Hollywood era, and this one is insanely cute. I’ll be picking that one up at the Gallerie as soon as I’m back to swimsuit condition.
  2. Johnson’s Softlotion Melt Away Stress. I love Johnson’s body products. I won’t lie – I use baby lotion and oil on my own skin, so I’ll probably be running out of the stuff at an abnormally fast pace.
  3. Fiji Water Home Delivery. I didn’t know that Fiji had a home delivery service, but now that I do, I think I’ll be giving it a shot – as well as suggesting it to my clients. Not only does it give you an incentive to drink more water [which I hate], but it helps give clean water to deprived children in other countries. Warms my heart…
  4. The Lipari Gown by Diane von Furstenberg. I love this dress. Especially now that I’m really starting to show. It’s a great color, too – teal looks rather nice on me, if I do say so myself.
  5. The Berkeley Damier Azur from Louis Vuitton. I absolutely, positively have to have this bag. It may take me a while to get it, but I have to have it. It’s gorgeous. And so gorgeous. Wait, I said that already, didn’t I?

So, what’s on your It List? Check out the Vanity Fair Insider section, and tell me all about your favorite picks in the comments section.

P.S. I just joined Technorati, Digg, and Del.icio.us this weekend, so look for me there. Also, feel free to bookmark this blog and share it with someone you know.

The Seven of Heaven: Top Designers

This is a new posting series that I’ve decided to start. It’s called ‘The Seven of Heaven’ because in each one, I’m going to be giving you seven of the greatest things on a different topic.

This will probably be a bi-monthly series, so be sure to check it out in the future. And as always, give me all the feedback you can muster up – I’d love to hear your comments and ideas on The Seven of Heaven, as well as any other posts I happen to write.

So, with that said, let’s get to the stairway, shall we?

Today’s Seven of Heaven features designers. Specifically, my favorite designers. This list is a mix of couture mavens as well as designers who work with the everyday girl. [And this list is in no particular order, just so you know.]

  1. Jean Paul Gaultier. Ever since I saw his work in The Fifth Element [one of my favorite movies], I’ve been in love with this man’s work. The colors, the cuts, the fabrics, the eccentric nature – it all speaks to me. [Forgive me for sounding so dramatic.]
  2. Marc Jacobs. I really like his style. The Fall 2007 collection was great, in my opinion. I love the sleek lines and sophisticated sexiness of his skirts and tailored suits.
  3. Bottega Veneta. This designer makes the list not only for the great couture [I love the advertisement campaign], but for the furnishing collection as well. I love the simple style of the designs.
  4. Isaac Mizrahi. Who doesn’t love Isaac Mizrahi? Great style, great personality, and he has a line at Target. What more can you say?
  5. Manolo Blahnik. I love heels. Stilhettos and wedges, peeptoes and pumps. And this guy does heels the way I like them – the higher, the better. And it doesn’t hurt that he’s a staple in on of my favorite television series of all times – Sex and the City.
  6. Louis Vuitton. French designer, American staple. No explanation needed.
  7. L.A.M.B. Say what you will, but I like Gwen’s house of style. It’s quirky, edgy, and sexy all at the same time. Forgive me, but I admire someone who can pull that off and still look as glamorous as she does.

Great Beauty Products to Try

In my quest for a change in style, I’ve been looking into some of the latest trends in fashion. The other day I was flipping through Allure magazine, and I found a few new trends in makeup that look rather interesting.

While I’m not a big fan of overly done makeup, some of the suggestions sparked some interest. However, I’ve decided to exercise a little bit more moderation that the editors of the magazine went with.

After all, I can’t show up to an event or meeting with a client with neon orange lips or electric blue eyeliner, now can I? So, with that in mind, I’ve made a list of beauty products that I plan on picking up in between errands and meetings.

  1. Prescriptives Softlining Eye Pencil in Jet. I love Prescriptives, especially their Color Printing technique. So, I figure I’d give this a try.
  2. L’Oréal Paris HIP High Intensity Pigments Bright + Shadow Duo-in Showy. I’m not sure how it will look on me just yet, but I’m willing to try it out. After all, if I don’t like it, it’ll get buried in my makeup bag with all the rest of the unsatisfactory products. Maybe I’ll find a use for it someday.
  3. Maybelline Define-A-Lash Mascara. I love having thick, dark lashes – there’s just something about the vampiness of it that I like.
  4. Bobbi Brown Tinted Lip Balm. I’m not a big fan of lipcolor, though I do like a good tint every once in a while. Plus, I love having soft, moisturized lips, so hopefully this product involves just as much balm as it does color.
  5. Yves Saint Laurent Long-Lasting Nail Lacquer in Black Tulip. Don’t ask me why, but I love black nails. It’s not so much the goth aspect of it [young kids these days give so many things a bad wrap] more than it is the sleek sophistication of it. Plus, I wear a lot of black and grey, so it suits my wardrobe.

What about you? What great beauty finds are you going to be checking out this month? Give me a shout in the comments section.
